BP Group Reviews

BP Group Reviews adds a new tab to your BuddyPress groups, where users can leave reviews and star ratings for the group.

The guts of the plugin were written by Andy Peatling for use on the Extend section of buddypress.org. I adapted and expanded the code into this plugin, and I’ll be maintaining it. All praise goes to Andy, all blame for things broken goes to Boone πŸ™‚

Instructions

  1. Upload the bp-group-reviews directory to your WP plugins folder and activate

    Almost exactly what I wanted, although I wanted this functionality for members (so people can write reviews about members instead of groups). Gonna try and tweak it; if there’s an easy way, please let me know.

    Being able to use this for Members, instead would be a great idea! Boone, anyway we could do this?

    What would also be handy, would be privacy settings on the Review (I haven’t tried the plugin yet, sorry if this already exists) so site admins could set whether or not reviews are public, or private and/or if the member (or group) could view/edit/comment on them or not.

      I’d like to adapt this plugin for use with members, but unfortunately, it will need to be largely rewritten in order to make it possible. Plus, the way that subcomponents (ie the tabs under member profiles) work will change in BP 1.3. So I’ll probably wait until that’s been done before doing anything extreme.

    Okay, I can’t wait! What’s the anticipated alpha release date for BP 1.3?

    Also, it would be handy for many people if they were able to change voting number of stars to, say, 10 instead of 5, and other simple things like that – add that to it’s future feature list! πŸ™‚

    currently not able to make this work. Installed, activated, no change. No tabs no ratings , tried varying themes, and most updated bp and wp. What should happen?

      Tell me to shut up if you’ve tried this but I had the same problem until:-
      Go to your Group
      Hit the Admin link (inside the group)
      Enable reviews

      Sorry if you’ve tried that… just thought I’d take a risk that you hadn’t and maybe get it working. πŸ™‚
